PREVENT Webinar Series “From Assessment to Action – Tackling Plastic Leakage for a Global Plastics Treaty”
🌊 How can we effectively assess and address plastic pollution to support a strong Global Plastics Treaty? Find out in the first two sessions of our webinar series on plastic leakage assessment methods!
We’re excited to continue our PREVENT webinar series “From Assessment to Action – Tackling Plastic Leakage for a Global Plastics Treaty”. This series explores different plastic leakage assessment methods at global, national, and local levels – highlighting how data-driven approaches can inform policies and actions to reduce plastic pollution. Plastic leakage assessments provide the data needed to set targets, track progress, and design effective policy measures.
In the first two sessions, we explored the value of municipal and national plastic leakage assessments and shared practical insights on:
Session 1: ‘From Assessment to Action’ #1 – Tackling Plastic Leakage on the City Level
- Relevance and methodologies for monitoring and plastic leakage assessments by Josh Cottom (Imperial College London)
- UN Habitat’s Waste Wise Cities Tool presented Shiho Jinno (UN Habitat)
- Waste Flow Diagram presented by Steffen Blume (GIZ)
Session 2: ‘From Assessment to Action’ #2 – Tackling Plastic Leakage on National Level
- IUCN’s Plastic Hotspotting Methodology presented by Lynn Sorrentino (IUCN)
- GPAP’s National Analysis and Modelling (NAM) Tool presented by Margherita Pucino (GPAP)
